The Presidential Election 2024
The suspense intensifies as the November 5th presidential election rapidly approaches. Who will be America’s 47th president? What are the prophets saying? Scores of prophets hit a bullseye predicting the surprising 2016 victory of Trump over his opponent Hillary Clinton. As many skeptics stood dazed, the right wing, evangelical prophets gave high-fives at their accuracy, touting that Trump was a Biblical type of King Cyrus, a Persian King who crushed Babylon permitting God’s people to return to Israel to rebuild the temple. Moreover, they presented Trump as a devoted believer with deep spiritual roots, one who with the prayerful covering of high-profile pastors would eventually show Christian fruitfulness and fulfill his divinely appointed mandate to save America from the clutches of socialism and debauchery.
During the traditional inaugural dance with his lovely wife Melania, Trump chose the 60’s Sinatra hit “My Way.” (Now that was prophetic.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbWwWnBCm0c Ignoring cries from constituents, Trump continued his unpresidential ranting, scathing attacks against opponents, and outlandishly false statements. Additionally, his admiration for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin left even Fox News cringing. A few weeks into office, it didn’t take a seasoned saint to discern that the bellowing voice from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave was not the voice of the Spirit of God. However, following Trump's selection of two conservative Supreme Court justices, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, the 50-year-old ruling in Roe v. Wade was reversed as some prophesied. Additionally, many saw Attorney General William Barr slapping criminal indictments against prominent players from the previous administration (i.e. Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton) that would leave them exchanging their executive attire for jumpsuits and their mansions for jail cells (Guantanamo Bay no less). Barr's departure from Trump's cabinet and the indictment of Trump's lawyer, Mike Cohen, who eventually became his Judas, destroyed this prospect.
After the 2020 Biden win, those prophesying a consecutive Trump term watched their prophecies fall to the ground and turn to dust. Prophets who publicly repented of their error were stoned by those who wouldn’t. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxvsy4CSJx0 They, along with Trump, cried foul play declaring that the election was sabotaged by rigged Dominion voting machines. When Fox News joined the chorus, Dominion sued for defamation and was awarded nearly $800,000,000. Boom! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFzdxmzA4D8 (Talk about fake news!) Oh, I can hear the O’Jays singing “Money, Money, Money!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ympPrBR4E60 Despite intense investigation, no fraud of significant worth was proven. Upon taking office, many unrelenting prophets insisted that America had two presidents and that God would flip the results even if it involved death, judgment, and divine retribution. (One prophet claimed to have dreamt that a strong wind from the left blew and placed the Bible from Biden’s hand into Trump’s during the swearing-in ceremony.) Phew. Trump ditched the ceremony and later, alleged by some, incited a disheartening coup attempt during the January 6 election certification presided over by his own Vice President, Mike Pence.
Many prophets surmised that Trump's 2016 upset was God’s design to humble Trump, but I sorely disagree. His defeat was to humble them with their self-righteous, condescending, divisive, vitriolic obsession that bordered along the lines of idolatry. (When we ascribe righteousness to a political party we are no longer spiritual but as carnal as the Corinthians, no matter how many scriptures we use). Fourteen indictments and two impeachments later, Trump arose as the 2025 Republican nominee.
Biden’s second bid was eclipsed due to obvious cognitive and physical decline and was pressured to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee in his stead. Unlike the 2020 debacle, little prediction of this election outcome emerged.
Amid a tsunami of criticism, lies, and investigative innuendoes Vice President Kamala wobbled her way through tough interviews on several news platforms sounding as if she captian of a third-ranked high school sophomore debate team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REciDqfLlnM However unimpressive, she vowed to work on overturning the ban on abortions while passionately embracing the LGBTQ community—two hot taboos for the faith-based community. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VjXtHPX6jPQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWDI9NRnQ9w Meanwhile, Trump fought hard to stay on topic during his campaign, choosing to attack his opponents rather than offer policies—leaving many supporters frustrated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdD76ICbAIo&list=RDNSq2qdbYfrjT0&index=27 At one point, he made a locker room reference on golfing legend, Arnold Palmer’s anatomy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElY8QPtgMyQ Huh? (Oh, where is Ross Perot when you need him?) As November 5th fastly approached, both candidates waxed strong in announcing their positions and policies for the American people.
Whatever the case, if you haven’t already, voting day is November 5th. Here are a few things to consider.
• God is not a Republican, according to John 4:24, He is a Spirit (thank you, Jesus).
• God is not a Democrat (Hallelujah! I’m shouting right about now).
• It is not about the donkey or the elephant but the blood of the Lamb that will ultimately make America great.
• However tempting, do not bow out of this one. Please vote. The candidates are as imperfect as the country is, but it’s still a great place to live.
• Remember, there are House and Senate seats up for grabs and important local issues and levies to vote on. Do your research.
• Never let anyone coerce, bully, intimidate, or condemn you into voting their choice, even if it flows from the pulpit (most of it is witchcraft and we have enough of that going on, especially during this ungodly season (Halloween). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q369iQJ49cY
• Categorically reject any conjecture that the Black church is a monolith that votes exclusively based upon race and party. I have voted across both political lines for decades and while pastoring a predominately African-American church for nearly 7 presidential cycles, I’ve never once told my flock who to vote for in a national election but rather encouraged them to vote based on a unique history of voter denial based off on race and gender. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAvyi27RndY
• That being said, everyone should vote intelligently, according to knowledge, and according to his or her spirit.
• Finally, brace yourself for results. With a country so divided along political, social and racial lines if Trump wins, there will be an exponential public outcry; and if Kamala wins, it will be “Annie get your gun—time for a revolution.”
• Understand that God can perform His divine Will for America despite the outcome. It is us who try to put Him inside the petri dish of our shallow understanding when Solomon declares, “…behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee” (I Kings 8:27). Shalom.
